Cyrus Mistry is the upcomming Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Tata Group. The new Swift is now bigger in dimensions with 90mm in length, 5mm in width and 10mm in height increments done. The wheelbase has been stretched by 50mm and the inclination for the roof has got a decline. The headlamp and tail lamps have been peeled back a little bit more on the new Swift.

The car will be sold at launch with a choice between a 1.2-liter WT petrol engine, and a 1.3-liter DDIS diesel. The four-cylinder 16-valve petrol unit produces 93 horsepower (69 kW / 94 PS) and up to 118 Nm (87 ft-lb) of torque. Alternatively, the direct injection diesel, also a 16V four-banger, produces 74 horsepower (55 kW / 75 PS) and up to 190 Nm (140 ft-lb) of torque. Petrol buyers get a choice between a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic, while the diesel only comes with the manual.

The 3,850-millimeter long car is 1,695-mm wide and 1,510-mm high (151.57" x 66.73" x 59.45"), and has a wheelbase of 2,430 mm (95.67"). This means the car is 2.5-percent longer, with a 40-mm longer wheelbase, providing both more legroom and more cargo space. Hopefully, this will not detract from the Swift's small car charm.

Still, the car's scant kerb weight ranges from 945 kg to 1110 kg, depending on the transmission and added options. By keeping the weight low, the relatively petrol engine and manual transmission get the three- and five-door to 100 km/h in 12.3 seconds. Add 0.4 seconds to the time with the diesel, or 1.2 seconds with the automatic transmission. All of the manual transmission cars top out at 165 km/h, while the automatic models peak at 160 hp.

To help increase fuel efficiency, the petrol engine with a manual transmission will likely get a start/stop system. Without start/stop, fuel economy on the petrol ranges from 5.0- to 5.5-liters of fuel per 100 km (47 to 43 mpg), while the diesel gets a combined 4.2 liters of fuel per 100 km (56 mpg). This leads to CO2 emissions ranging from 109 to 126 grams per km.

Toyota says that the Etios Liva has been designed around the concept of ‘Bold Simplicity’. Dunno about that but from the front the Liva is very Etios-like . The same front dominated by the smiling grille and Toyota logo has been replicated here. Standing next to the B pillar looking back, I'm reminded of the Micra but while the Micra's hatch is slanted forward a bit aggressively, this one is upright. Ratan Tata has unveiled world’s first gold jewellery car to mark the occasion of 5000 glorious years of jewellery making tradition in India, from its Group company Titan Industries.

Titan Industries has unveiled a promotional campaign called Goldplus for jewellery brand targeted at semi-urban and rural market.

The brand's eponymous retail outlets at 29 towns in five States will host The World's First Ever Gold Jewellery Car — a Tata Nano decked in 80 kg of 22-carat gold, 15 kg of silver and 10,000 precious and semi-precious stones of nine varieties.

“Through this effort we wanted to showcase the expertise of diverse Indian Jewellery making proficiency. Nothing could have been better than a Tata Nano, as there is a perfect synergy between the two brands that cater to the common man”


The car, crafted to celebrate 5,000 years of jewellery making in India, was unveiled in Mumbai by the Tata group Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata, on Monday.

The Goldplus Car will travel to all target markets, said Mr C.K. Venkataraman, COO, Jewellery Division, Titan Industries. The campaign featuring the gold car follows the World's Largest Bangle promo at Goldplus outlets, and a gold education promo, Karatmeter on Wheels, in semi-urban and rural markets.
